Install SBSInsert the Small Business Server CD #1. Boot the CD. This will install Windows Server on the computer. Install with a dummy computer name and a dummy domain nameImportant: When you install Windows Server, use
a dummy
computer name (example: UMove will later overwrite the computer name and the domain name when it moves Active Directory. Old Versions of SBS Prior to SBS 2003 R2: On old versions of SBS prior to SBS 2003 R2, when creating the dummy domain you may be prompted for the method of how to create the domain. Select the option to create a new Domain controller for a new domain and a Domain in a new forest. This creates the dummy AD forest that UMove will overwrite later. Install Exchange If RequiredThe SBS Setup will insist upon installing Exchange early in the setup procedure. You will need to create a create a dummy domain to allow Exchange to install. When installing Exchange you must use the same options as the source computer. In particular you must use the same disk letters and paths for the data folders and log folders. See Install Exchange. Do not install the SBS applications yetAvoid installing the SBS “Premium Technologies” CD #1 or #2 until after you move AD. The CDs include applications such as SQL Server and SharePoint. UMove will warn you if you attempt to install these applications before moving AD. Wait until after you move AD. Next step: Apply the R2 Upgrade (if installing R2), or Transfer the snapshot (if not installing R2) |
