Windows Server 2000 or 2003: You can reduce the size of the .BKF file by limiting the backup to only the files used by Active Directory. For a list of files see Layout of the Staging Folder. If you let UMove create the .BKF file for you, it will automatically do this for you.

You can reduce the size of the .BKF file by not backing up the system protected files (SPF). When you back up the System State, click the button Advanced. Uncheck the box Automatically backup System Protected Files with the System State (see figure). This will substantially reduce the size of the .BKF file.

If you let UMove create the .BKF file for you, it will do this automatically.
