Warning: Wrong Service Pack

The operating system that created the backup copy of Active Directory has a different service pack (SP) than the operating system on the current computer. In most cases you cannot successfully move Active Directory under this scenario.

While tests show that, for example, moving from Windows Server 2003 SP1 to Windows Server 2003 SP2 appears to work successfully, it is not recommended. The recommended method is to first upgrade the computer with the lower service pack before running UMove.

The only time you should override this warning is during an emergency when the dead computer was running an earlier service pack that is no longer available.
